Since the last 20 years, Nepalese education has improved significantly. Nepalese primary enrolment has gone upto 97%. However, there are a lot of progress and hurdles and challenges to tackle. The issue persists due to poor quality, inequality, accessibility like geographical remoteness and socioeconomic status.
Formal higher education started only after the establishment of Tri-Chandra College in 1918. Tribhuvan University was the only university in Nepal until 1985. Mahendra Sanskrit University was founded in 1986 which is now named as Nepal Sanskrit University. Many schools and colleges are running privately but none of the universities in Nepal are private.
